Meet the Timberland Man
Eric Entrekin has spent three decades walking Mississippi and Alabama timber on behalf of the people who own it — never the people who buy it.

Born to the woods
Eric Entrekin grew up in east Mississippi, where pine ridges and hardwood bottoms were less a backdrop than a livelihood. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Mississippi State University and went straight to work managing private timberland — first for landowners he knew by name, and eventually for clients across two states.
In 1995 he founded Southeast Forestlands with a simple idea: a forester ought to answer to the person who owns the dirt, not the mill that wants the wood. Three decades later, that's still the rule. Every cruise, every sealed-bid sale, every management plan is built around the landowner's goals — short rotation income, long-rotation legacy, wildlife, recreation, or some blend of all four.
Eric lives in Meridian, MS with his family. When he isn't in the woods he's usually thinking about being in the woods — or flying a drone over a stand to show a client what their land looks like from 400 feet up.
